Vijay starrer Varisu’s first song gets release date




Composed by Thaman S, the first single from Varisu is speculated to be written by Vivek and sung by Jonita Gandhi and Sid Sriram.


Vijay’s Varisu is one of the biggest upcoming Tamil films. As Vijay is teaming up with Telugu director Vamshi Paidipally of Maharshi fame, the expectations from the film are high not just in Tamil Nadu, but also in Telugu states. Now, the latest update about Varisu is that the first song from the film will be unveiled on Diwali. The film’s composer Thaman S recently confirmed the song’s release date at a pre-release event of Sivakarthikeyan’s Prince.

In a clip from the event, Thaman says that he is shooting for a song from Varisu along with cinematographer Manoj Paramahamsa and the film’s team, and the track will be released on Diwali.

The film title '#Varisu' was trending on social media all day yesterday, September 12 after the announcement of the film’s non-theatrical rights (OTT, digital and satellite) were made. According to reports of a trade analyst, the film’s pre-release business has already crossed Rs 150 crore and the film is expected to have a mass head start.

Reportedly, the film’s non-theatrical rights and dubbing rights to Hindi have been sold already and the shooting of the movie is currently taking place in Hyderabad. It is also speculated that as ‘Varisu’ was sold for a whopping amount even before its release, it is expected that Vijay’s next ‘Thalapathy 67’ which is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj will be sold at Rs 200 crore.

On Deepavali, the producers of Varisu announced the film’s release date. The movie will arrive in cinemas worldwide during the Pongal holiday next year. The makers have also promised a series of updates starting next week.

On the occasion of the festival, a new poster featuring Vijay in an action avatar was also released. In the poster, Vijay armed with a sledgehammer is seen walking amid an army of people who are lying on the ground writhing in pain after being subjected to a good beating.

Along with the Tamil original, the Telugu version Varasadu will also release on the same day. The film is set to clash with Prabhas’ mythological drama Adipurush in the south Indian states during the Pongal festival. Adipurush, written and directed by Om Raut, is based on the epic Ramayana. The film also stars Saif Ali Khan and Kriti Sanon in the lead roles. And it’s due in cinemas on January 12, two days before the Pongal/Sankranti holidays.
